Visit Bath logoVisit Bath is the official tourism website for the city that Jane built, and the Austen connections are numerous. I have used this site extensively to plan our trip to Bath

Jane Austen Society of the United Kingdom logoThe Jane Austen Society of North America offers many tours of England: “Participants must be members of JASNA, but they may join at the time they register for the tour. Reservations are on a first come/first served basis. The tour group minimum is 15 and maximum is 35.”

Jane Austen Centre logoThe Jane Austen Centre also organizes walking tours of Bath. Coordinate this with your tour of the museum and tea and buns in the tearoom.

British Tours logoBritish Tours also offers Jane Austen themed tours: “Visit the stunning locations of the latest film adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen's birthplace and the homes where she wrote her greatest works.”

P&P ToursP&P Tours takes you “to all filming locations from the 1995 BBC adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. We are the only tour operator in the world who can take you there. Jane Austen tours are our speciality and we offer many other period drama location tours too – Jane Eyre, North & South, Downton Abbey, Emma and more.” Read more about P&P Tours at Austenprose.

Seeking Jane Austen is “a guide to places associated with Jane Austen … includes map links and other useful local information for visitors. The site is organised geographically, and this geography … is limited to the southern half of England, from Kent in the east to Bath in the west and only as far north as the south Midlands. It is intended to be of use to any Austen fan, from anywhere, either to simply read, or to refer to when they happen to visit one of the locations for holidays or other purposes.”

Visit WinchesterVisit Winchester is another of the wonderful U.K. visitor websites with lots of information for the surrounding area (Chawton is northeast of Winchester) and Jane Austen is, of course, buried at Winchester Cathedral.

Hampshire County CouncilThe Hampshire County Council has a special section of their county website devoted to Jane Austen. It’s really very touching, with items such as the registry of Jane’s baptism and a pelisse she actually wore and the diary entry of Mary Austen, her sister in law, on the day of her death.

English Lakeside Ramblers
English Lakeside Ramblers offers many walking tours, both guided and self-guided, with accommodations and meals of your own choice (don’t know how that works), including a three-night Austen walk that “takes you through beautiful Hampshire countryside that was the inspiration for the works of Jane Austen, author of Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility and many others. The walk takes you right past the house where the authoress lived and which is open to the public.”
