To quote from the website of the Jane Austen Society of North America: “[JASNA] is dedicated to the enjoyment and appreciation of Jane Austen and her writing. JASNA is a nonprofit organization staffed by volunteers, with approximately 4,000 members and over 60 regional groups in the United States and Canada.”

JASNA Canada

JASNA Canada has a separate website where you can obtain information on paying your dues to JASNA: “By law, Canadians who wish to join JASNA must pay their dues in Canada, in Canadian funds.” There’s also an excellent circulating library that is a benefit of membership.

I have found a great deal of incredibly useful information at the website of the Jane Austen Society of Australia, with its wealth of essays on money and daily life in Regency England. I would love to include the image of Jane from their home page but it would spoil the effect.

Jane Austen Society of the United Kingdom logoFounded in 1940, the Jane Austen Society of the United Kingdom helped secure the future of Austen’s home in Chawton. I especially like the summaries of the six books and the publications of the society.

It appears that most of the branches of the society do not have independent websites, and you can find a link to the branches here.
